Walt Disney Tickets Explained

disney tickets

Buying Disney passes can be a very confusing and time consuming process with the wide range of options available to visitors. Disney have UK-specific tickets which offer excellent value for money if planning on multiple visits or if you require the freedom to come and go as many times as you wish – but what if you only want to visit for a couple of days or are not too bothered about hopping between the parks? Well, Disney offer a range of other tickets which are designed for the ‘International’ market but don’t fear – Brits can buy them too. The phrase ‘Hopping’ is something you will hear alot of when planning your trip as this allows the ticket holder to visit multiple parks in the same day, hence the phrase ‘Hop’. Again, this option may be ideal for some yet others may not require this so it is very important to research, pre plan and have a broad itinerary to ensure you do not overspend on park tickets. All expiration tickets have a 14 day (or 21 day for the 21 Day ultimate!) validity from first activation.

A few things to remember:
– you should receive plastic RFID ready tickets with a barcode on the rear to scan and link to My Disney Experience.
– Magicbands are available to purchase for guests staying offsite priced at $12.95 plus tax. Those lucky enough to stay on site will receive these upon check in and your tickets can be linked so when using FastPass you do not need to keep digging out tickets.
– once they are purchased and linked to your account they are non refundable. Take a copy/picture of the rear of the ticket incase lost as Guest Services will check validity and issue a replacement.

Ticket Options
7, 14 and 21 Day Ultimate passes
UK tickets are branded as ‘Ultimate’ passes and allow the user unlimited access to all Disney has to offer for the duration of the ticket within a 14/21 day period. The ability to hop between parks on the same day is also included so the keys to Disney are yours!

INTERNATIONAL TICKETS
Visitors seeking lesser durations can purchase anything from 1 day up to 10 day with various bolt on options. However, it is important to remember it is usually cheaper to buy durations of 3 days or under at the gate as the brokers do not receive any discounts on these so will charge a service fee. Obviously by pre purchasing you will avoid gate queues so it may suit some guests.
Disney have 4 types – Base, Base with Water Park and More, Hopper and Hopper with Water Park and More all available with expiration after 14 days and non expiration covering 1-10 days. Let’s explain this a little further:
Base
The base passes permit ONE PARK PER DAY with NO hopping for the number of days purchased within a 14 day period. So if you intend to spend just one full day in the park and are not interested in visiting the waterparks, this is the ticket to go for.
Base with Water Park and More
This ticket type allows ONE PARK PER DAY with NO hopping for the number of days purchased within a a 14 day period PLUS the same number of visits to the ‘extras’ which include:
Blizzard Beach Water Park
Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course (subject to availability)
Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex (event days only)
DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park (some restrictions)
So as an example, a 4 Day Base with Water Park and More would allow 4 Days (one park per day) to the main parks of Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios then another 4 VISITS to the extras listed above.
Hopper
Planning on visiting more than one park per day? This is the ticket for you as this permits the holder to hop between parks for the number of days purchased. If a 5 Day Hopper is purchased, this would entitle the guest to 5 days unlimited access to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
Hopper with Water Park and More
If looking to experience the fun of the water parks with the freedom of hopping, this is the ticket to purchase. This allows hopping access for the number of days purchased plus the same number of VISITS to the extras listed above.

As you can see, there are many options available and it is important to pre plan the itinerary to ensure you do not overspend on your ticket purchase.
